    CBS MUM Corrupt 0x800F0900


    Hello,

    Trying to fix some issues with windows update. Ran the sfc and readiness tool. Repaired most of the corruption but the attached report shows it cant repair some of the files. Windows updates fails with 0x800F0900.
    Windows 7 64bit (no SP1)
    Any help would be appreciated.

    CBS errors...
    There are over 200 file errors!

    It's not practical to attempt to fix this number of errors manually.

    I would suggest that you first run CHKDSK /R to see if the disk is failing, and then if it's OK, attempt a repair install of the OS.

    thanks for the reply. It was actually near 8000 files repaired! this was left over. I ended up reinstalling windows to clear it up.

    The SFC results are a little misleading :)
    There were 32000+ error lines in the report - I didn't see any successfully fixed - but each one would have appeared at least twice, and possibly up to 8 times depending on the actual error.
    The figure of 200 I quoted was the one from SFC itself - which is the number of affected components (each of which could hold anything from 1 to 150 files)

    I think the reinstall was probably the best solution.

    Did you check the hard drive for errors first?
