Thanks.
My guess is the issue is either some sort of registry problem or some odd/obscure problem with the Office 2010 files themselves. As I said before, I'm thinking the most efficient way to resolve this would be to de-install Office 2010 and then reload it from some downloadable install package that has the SP2 update incorporated in it. But if you have a better idea I'd sure love to hear it.
I've spent many hours attempting to resolve install/update issues with past versions of Office, so I know how vexing these problems can be. But since I am no longer earning money from doing Office development work (actually Access database applications) I may be willing to risk the de-install/re-install option.
I am aware of the OFCLEAN routine that used to be available to clean up Office de-installs, so I'll see what I can find out about a version of that for Office 2010. Of course I'll also have to find an Office 2010 + SP2 download. I haven't started looking for that yet.
Thanks again for your help with this.
