Thanks VK,
That's where I saw under "Causes", that I wanted the OP to run a chkdsk.
I'd be happy If the OP wants to follow the steps to take under "Resolution" to rule out those Methods. If they fail I'm thinking, going with the CHKDSK and worst case moving the OS over to the WD HDD.
so i tried method one, but i cant repair the .net framework. do i continue on to method 2?
i also tried downloading the update manually but i get a message saying "
Software Update KB2742613 Installation Wizard does not apply, or is blocked by another condition on your computer. Please click the link below for more details."

I don't know, the OP would have to answer that.
Yes, you should work the Methods in the order they are presented.
Did you get any error messages as to why you could not repair the framwork?
Did you click on the link to see more details? If you did, what did it say? please post a screenshot or a link to the details.
If theThis could be relevant to step 2 in the resolution methods, "Method 2: Fix MSI software update registration corruption issues".Installation Wizard does not apply, or is blocked by another condition on your computer.
Please answer VistaKing's question above:
It is getting late for me, I'll pick this up in the morning.
since we are talking about corrupted system files, what about running a SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker ? Running this won't hurt either way.
Also, the Repair Install won't delete data nor programs, as clearly stated in the first box:
Do a Repair installation if:
- A System Restore did not help fix your Windows 7.
- There is no other easier option left that can fix your Windows 7.
- You DO NOT want to do a Clean reinstall of Windows 7.
- You DO want to preserve your user accounts, data, programs, and system drivers.
(emphasis mine on the last line)
It's a bit annoying as it resets most system options to default and deletes all updates, though.
Still, keep it as the last thing to do after all troubleshooting failed.
Anak, I tried uninstalling using the Fix It tool and then reinstall my .Net Framework 4.5, but i still can update it from windows update. so i tried repairing but then i got this msg: the feature you are truing to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containt the installation package 'netfx_Full_x64.msi' in the box below.
Below is the log file for the repair failure.
but i dont know where to browse for that file and clicking okay only say its not a valid installation package. There wasnt any link for me to click when the manually update failed even though it state that there is.Code:© 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. Terms of Use. and yes my SSD has the latest firmware.
bobafetthotmail, ive already did a repair installation and no its still not doing any help.
Thank you for the log! For now, let's concentrate on the error. Here's what I do.
At the bottom of the log you see the error code: (0x8007064C) when I highlight it and then right click I have a listing to search with my favorite search engine, and I come up with this.
Error code when you use the Windows Update Web site or the Microsoft Update Web site to install updates: "0x8007064C"
You'll see the symptoms, cause, and resolution. If resolution is not open click on the + that is circled.
Follow Method 1, even though it says it is for Vista it should work for Seven. Read and understand the instructions.
I know you and Noel have worked with this before in post #8, but these CMD's are a little different.
Noels code:New code:Code:NET STOP WUAUSERV REN C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution SDOLD NET START WUAUSERVWhether or not it makes a difference, I'm not sure, but run the new batch file code.Code:net stop wuauserv cd %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution ren Download Download.old net start wuauserv
With the new you're using a batch file and the ren cmd is different.
Check updates as in step 10, and if it works clean up as told in step 11.
still not working. this time i got back the 66A error again.
Did you try to repair the MSI update package in Method 2 here? Error codes "0x8007066A" or "66A" occur when you install the .NET Framework updates
