what type COA do i need?

i used windows 7 Ultimate "upgrade" to upgrade my Vista Business... i had media but no COA

Now i must buy one on ebay... will any 7 Ultimate COA work? Or, do i need one specifically for an Ultimate "Upgrade" version?

    Thanks, Geeze

Caution: There are a lot of KEY Codes sold on eBay that end up going NOT GENUINE!

But if you were going to take that chance... would any 7 Ultimate COA work... provided that it was genuine?

Yes, but would you really want to risk losing your money by most likely buying a product key from some shady person on eBay?

I would only recommend buying a product key or a retail box from an established reputable retailer instead.

ok... i'm not going to buy just a COA on ebay. But, i am going to buy on ebay one that is unopened and comes with COA and both 32 and 64 bit media marked "Full Installation"... i couldn't use this media to upgrade from my Vista Business without a clean install but, just using the COA now should work... I hope! Right?

    It's only $45...

I do appreciate both you guys warning me...

Look at the price of this,

    Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit - Newegg.com

Your $45 deal is most certainly a scam.

It also might be an Anytime Upgrade, which is only used to unlock the extra Ultimate features from a lower version. It wouldn't work at all with an upgrade from Vista.

You can buy retail Win7 Upgrade version (not Anytime Upgrade) since you have Vista. If you did an in-place Upgrade from Vista, or Vista was on the HD when you did a Clean Install Windows 7 then it should accept the key.
