I rebooted the computer and it went to BSD. It rebooted on its own and I got the message "Windows has recovered....." and the additional details are attached. All seems to be running properly now . Here is a link to the new CBS9-9-13. Download CBS9-9-13 from Sendspace.com - send big files the easy way

I know you want to understand this 80004002 error. I am happy to continue to work with you on this but if i end up with a BSD that no longer allows me to communicate with you via this PC, im in trouble. If you think this is time to do a Repair Install, i'm OK with that. But i cant do that until late September because im leaving on a business/personal trip for 10 days on Sept 11.

    Hi malon,

Rest assured, any of the fixes I've performed here can't cause a BSOD. But we can find the cause of your BSOD and fix that as well. Follow these instructions to collect the information required to troubleshoot this issue:
Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions

    Then do this please:

    Export registry as hive

    1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type regedit
    2. When you see regedit on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
    3. When regedit opens, using the left pane, navigate to the following registry key and select it by clicking on it once.

      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing

    4. Once selected, click File > Export....
    5. Change the Save as type: to Registry Hive Files (*.*)
    6. Name this file CBS (with no file extension) and save it to your Desktop.

Zip up this file and attach it to your next post please. If it is too big, which it probably will be, then upload it to SendSpace and send me the link please :)

If the fix is in place, and you're still getting an 0x80004002 error, then we'll go for the repair install :)

I was certainly not insinuating your fix could cause BSOD. Only my fingers could do that. Here is the SF zipped file as well as the lastest CBS zipped file. All appeared to go as advertised.
You guys are amazing! I would love to solve this without a Repair Install but am prepared.

Apologize for the confusion. I think the attached is a more recent zip of the SF log.

    Hi malon,

Unfortunately, my fix is in place so it looks like I was barking up the wrong tree! Oh well, at least I know not to try that next time. I have asked a friend to have a look at the minidump file for us because I'm hopeless with them! Hold off on the repair install until we've tracked down the cause of this BSOD :)

    tom982,
Well, i still stand by my statement.....all of you are amazing! I hope your friend finds something in the minidump. As I said, i wont likely try a Repair Install until after i get back from my 10 day trip.

    Hi Malon155,

Your logs are not showing anything definitive as to exact cause:

    STOP 0x0000007E: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
Usual causes: Insufficient disk space, Device driver, Video card, BIOS,
Breakpoint with no debugger attached, Hardware incompatibility, Faulty system service,
    Memory, 3rd party remote control.

    Code:
PEAuth.sys is the protected environment authentication and authorization
export driver, and as it is a protected system file it is unlikely to be the issue.
Please confirm your SSD firmware is the latest, if not update:
    Sandisk SSD Firmware Update

I would also suggest removing these programs as they can do more harm than good:

    Glary Utilities
    Free Registry Cleaner
    Tweakers.com/windows repair (all in one)

What Anti-Virus are you using, as I cannot locate one in your files?
If you do not have one installed, please download and install:

    Microsoft Security Essentials.
Recommended from a strict BSOD perspective, compatibility & stability
compared to other antiviruses/internet security software.

       Note
Once downloaded, update and run a full system scan

In relation to your 0x80004002 error, this may help:

    Code:

    Event[34997]:
      Log Name: System
      Source: Microsoft-Windows-WMPNSS-Service
      Date: 2013-08-19T09:59:01.000

      Level: Error

      Description:
Service 'WMPNetworkSvc' did not start correctly because CoCreateInstance
(CLSID_UPnPDeviceFinder) encountered error '0x80004002'. Verify that
the UPnPHost service is running and that the UPnPHost component of Windows
    is installed properly.
If you have been running tuneup utilities etc then some of the services may have been disabled by
these programs, you will need to check to see the status of each service and make sure these items
are set to automatic or automatic delayed start: SSDP Discovery, UPnP Device Host, WMPNetworkSvc.

I can see from your logs that SSDP, UPnP Device Host are set to manual, and WMPNetworkSvc is set to Automatic.

    1. To correct this click Start>type "services" into the search box, then click Attachment 285357
    2. The services configuration window will open.
    3. Scroll down and find SSDP Discovery, UPnP Device Host, right click and select Propeties.
    4. The properties window will open and you can change the startup type to automatic or automatic delayed start.
    5. Once set for both click Apply then OK. Reboot.

I also noticed from your logs, which may be affecting system performance:

    Code:

    Event[34963]:

You may have EIST "Enhanched Intel Speed Step Technologly" enabled in BIOS, this is a power saving feature
which alters the speed of the processor when not in use or low load use. It may help stabalise the system if disabled.

This may also could be an indication of overheating issues with the processor. Aim to update your
BIOS from 212 to 219 (which also updates the thermal policy):

       Warning
Please follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully when updating the BIOS, as
incorrectly updated, may render your computer unusable!!

Monitoring the temperature of the system, use Speccy or HWMonitor:
    Speccy System Information
    HWMonitor

    Test your memory:

I would firstly try re-seating the RAM, ensure they are free from dust, and seated properly.
Then run memtest. Run for 8 passes and test each stick in a know good slot for an additional 6 passes.

       Tip
Run these tests overnight, pay particular attention to #3 in tutorial if errors occur

The system appears overclocked? Is this OEM set or did you overclock?
    Please return to stock settings.

    Code:

    CPUID: "Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3517U CPU @ 1.90GHz"
    MaxSpeed: 1900
    CurrentSpeed: 2394
Post back any results / progress.

    cheers

    Hi malon55,

Good work, don't worry about "WMPNetworkSvc" as it is already set to Automatic :)

The CPU temperature is quite high @ 82 °C, but below the 105°C maximum, but that's still
    too high in my opinion.
The motherboard temperature is high @ 79 °C

    Are those temps at idle?

I would check to see if the fans are clear and free of dust build up.

You may be able to reduce the Core temp if you have the Asus AI suite installed?
You can do this by changing the CPU fan profile from Standard to Disabled.

A cooling laptop pad may also help if your unable to get the temperatures down.

    Cheers

    Dave
