Can't activate windows after change of hardware
So about a week ago I bought a new CPU & mobo because my other ones died, and after I put the new parts in I have to activate windows again. I was given 2 options: ring a microsoft number and give them a long code over the phone or enter my product key i was given when I bought windows a few years ago. Putting in my product key doesn't work, and it prompts me to buy another (nope). I have just rung the number and given them my code and i got told i either need to buy a new product key or ring customer service and see if they can sort it out. Thought i'd try here first.
