OK - that was a bust, so we try the next most likely :)

Please run the following commands in an Elevated Command Prompt

NET STOP CRYPTSVC
REN C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CATROOT2 CATROOT2OLD
NET START CRYPTSVC

once complete, leave the system alone for at least an hour to rebuild the database, then reboot, and run another MGADiag report.
Note that this may delete your Update History - but all updates will remain installed, and can be viewed in the Installed Updates listing.

Well, one hour is up. The pc didn't seem to be doing much tough. The console interaction went something like:

And a new diag after one hour and a reboot. Seems smaller though :)

Good that's cleared another set of errors, so we only have to worry about the 0x1a8 error now :)

Open an Elevated Command Prompt window, and run the following commands

net start winmgmt
SC QC winmgmt
SC QUERYEX winmgmt

Copy and paste the results to your reply.

Here are some instructions to make life easier :)
1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.
2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.
3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.

Looks like this is going to be one of 'those' problems :/

This error is rare enough that my archive only contains about 6 instances of it - and no success stories that haven't been cured by what we've already tried.
If you need the system fully functional in a hurry, your best bet is going to be a repair install - Repair Install

If you want to try and fix the problem, I'm game, but it's going to take a while
- let me know which way you want to go.

The system is quite functional and the non-genuine warnings aren't at all crippling to my work so I'm in no particular rush to fix it. That being said I'd prefer not to have to do a repair install. So if you're up to it, why don't we add a 7th instance to your archive alongside a new way of fixing it? :)
