KB 2760411, KB 2760588 and KB 2760583 for Office 2007

No error messages. Windows Update appears to install them; but the updates have not been installed.
    These are 'important' updates.

When I run Windows Update again, these three updates reappear as 'important' updates.

These updates were part of today's (Sep 10th 2013) "patch Tuesday" updates.

    I have hidden them. Running WIN 7 X 64.

What is the correct solution or workaround for this problem?

Same thing here. It's quite annoying. Running Win 7 Ultimate (German release).

Good to see I'm not the only one. I'm not only experiencing this with the three Office updates, but also an additional Windows security update. These are the updates in question:

According to the update history, they all install successfully. Immediately after installing the system indicates a shutdown is required, but also indicates that four more updates are available...the same four. When I click "Installed updates" and search for these specific updates I see the three office updates listed, however I do not see the Windows Security update KB2872339. I'm about to remove Office 2007 to see if it will allow the Windows Update to install. That should indicate if it's a problem limited to Office or if it's more of a WIndows/Windows Update problem.

update: I tried selecting only the Windows update, and deselecting the Office updates. The Windows update still reports that it installed, but WU tells me to install it again. It also still doesn't appear in the "Installed Updates" list at all.

Are you really going to go to all the trouble of uninstalling Office 2007?
Why not wait a while, as it's clear this is a MS issue, lots of folks are complaining, and something is bound to be done (eventually).
I'm just a home user, but yours is the first mention I've seen of an additional patch problem with KB2872339.
I would suspect it's an unrelated problem, per se (but I am no expert).
Uninstalling the entire Office suite seems like a long run for a short slide, IMHO.

    Just sayin'

At this point I'm less concerned about the three Office updates that everyone is having problems with because as you said, it's obvious that it's a widespread problem that will be fixed. I'm more concerned about the one Windows security update that seems to exhibit the same symptom, yet isn't mentioned by anyone. I can uninstall/reinstall office in a few minutes, and I can honestly live without it if necessary. I would however like to install this windows security update the prevents malicious folks from elevating their privileges by convincing me to execute a specially crafted file.

I suppose it's possible that I'm experiencing two totally unrelated windows update glitches. I should probably take to google again and focus more on the Operating System Update that is failing.

P.S. Good work Microsoft. You MScrewed us! See what I did there? I put MS and screw together and made a new word! Don't get MScrewed!

Update: I downloaded the update manually (Windows6.1-KB2872339-x64.msu) and "installed" it. Just as with windows update, it reports to have installed successfully, doesn't appear in the installed updates list, and remains on the list of updates that need to be installed.
