SFC unable to fix / Windows update won't update (0x80070424) plus

    Hi Everyone,

I've never posted a question for a windows problem before, but this time I can't find a fix that works for me anywhere, I've tried dozens of solutions, here is the deal:

Windows Update doesn't update anymore, I saw a lot of people with this problem.
I've tried microsoft Fix It, no luck, downloaded several packs like the "System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB947821) [August 2013]" which doesn't start due to error 0x80070424.

    The Farbar tool said:
    wuauserv Service is not running.
    BITS Service is not running.
Not only that, but windows update and bits services doesn't appear at all on the services.msc
My previous scan of Farbar said tcpip.sys and txd.sys were infected, but it isn't the case anymore

Tried the Windows-KB890830-x64-V5.4 fix, no luck
    WindowsActivationUpdate, no luck
    WindowsUpdateDiagnostic, no luck.

Plus sfc scan can't fix the corrupted files (log attached). Also, when I schedule a scandisk (chkdsk), windows restarts and doesn't do the scan. I've tried also windows defender, which found some files infected, but after removing it windows didn't start anymore I needed a system restore.

My windows is genuine, however when I try to update the installation with the dvd it says the copy isn't compatible, I think it is because of the updates I did before.

My system is unstable on several things and I think it is all connected. Somebody could point me in a direction to fix it? Sounds like some malware, but I can't get rid of it.

    Thanks in advance,
    Lucas

I just installed AVG free version and the scan won't start. Somebody can point me to a good anti-virus or have an idea of what infection my computer might have?

    Thank you

    Welcome to the Seven Forums.

Sorry that you have not had anyone take on your issue. I saw when you first posted, but I'm not going to be of much help on the SFC errors. As far as a way to scan, first try Windows Defender Offline, then install Microsoft Security Essentials.

Thank you mate! The windows defender offline really did the trick partialy.
It found Trojan Necurs.A and successfully remove it. The default windows defender had found it but once it remove it the computer wouldn't start properly.
Windows update is back to work and I think AVG scan will too. However 2 of the windows updates can't be installed, SP1 and security update ... sp2 fail to install, error code "80073712" and "643". Didn't do a search on that yet. SFC still can't correct corrupted files, but I'll try again solutions that didn't work in the past since the trojan is gone.

Thanks a lot! I'll keep the thread going as I resolve everything, if somebody can help me with the sp1 and sfc issues it is much appreciated.

    Cheers

You might also want to try a repair install. It looks to me like you are missing several critical services.

It's probably less confusing if you just request this one be moved to the updates forum.

    I've uploaded a file - lkzaa.zip - to my SkyDrive at Noel's SkyDrive
    Please download and save it.

Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all...
Change the target to C:\ and click on Extract
Close all windows (it would be a good idea to print theseinstructions!)
Now reboot to the Repair Environment - as soon as the machine restarts, starttapping F8 - this should bring up the Advanced Boot Menu, at the top of whichshould be the option 'Repair my Computer'
    Pick that
You'll have to log in with your username and password.

Pick the option to use a Command Prompt
    At the prompt type
    DIR C:\lkzaa
hit the enter key - if you get a 'NotFound' error try
    DIR D:\lkzaa
    or
    DIR E:\lkzaa

The drive letter in use when you find the folder willneed to be substituted (for<drive>) into the followingcommand...

    XCOPY<drive>:\lkzaa <drive>:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h

    (e.g.XCOPY P:\wfire P:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h )

run the command (it should take almost no time)andwhen the prompt returns, type
    EXIT
and hit the Enter key to exit CommandPrompt - reboot to Normal Mode Windows.

Now run SFC /SCANNOW in anElevated Command Prompt
then reboot and upload the new CBS.log file to your SkyDrive Public folder, andpost a new link
