Windows Updates Repeatedly Failing on Multiple Computers
Hello All,
I work at a company with over 350 workstations and we are currently having some issues with Windows Updates on many of our computers. They all show that there are 3-4 updates important updates to install, but all of them end in a failure. I have tried many different things to fix the situation. Renaming the SoftwareDistribution folder and trying the updates again has no affect.
However, I did find (after disabling the Windows Update service, deleting the WindowsUpdate.log file, and re-enabling the service) that the C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log shows the following:
2013-10-07 16:04:31:188 492 1594 Misc =========== Logging initialized (build: 7.6.7600.256, tz: -0400) ===========

After reading the last line, I looked at the Install folder and found that I do not even have rights to open it. I tried taking ownership of the folder, but I don't have sufficient access to do so. I also tried deleting it, taking ownership of the parent SoftwareDistribution folder, and then reinstalling the updates, but that didn't solve anything either.
Does anyone have any idea what is going on here? Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks.
