you are able to do Elevated Command Prompt ?
I did succeed in doing that. It took a while to figure out but I did.

I attach a file gg.bat please download it. Then rightclick on it and do "run as admin". Does a new folder called "testfolder" appear on desktop?
Yes, it does. The gg.bat file is also running a process that is not finished yet.

Thanks for hanging in there with me Kaktussoft.

I did run it as administrator.

Some of the missing files and folders were there but not all.

    It seems mysterious.

There is another situation now too.

Previously my hard drive was close to full. Now it is full.

I will move the files in the testfolder to an external hard disk.

But I am assuming from this that the original files are still on the hard disk and that we just made another copy of them and put them on the desktop. Is that correct?

I just copied (using gg.bat) the folder contents you talked about.
Very strange they where in location you talked about. Can't believe it.

"previous versions" trick proved they have never been in location c:\users\yourname\desktop.

So you're talking nonsense or something very strange did happen.
