I tried the Troubleshooter Microsoft has on their website. I am pretty sure I had tried it before (10/12) and it said there were no issues detected. Anyway, I tried it again today, and it finally showed me there IS something wrong. I can't really understand the report, but maybe you can.

That is actually a very useful report (Unusual for MS Fixits!)
It claims to have fixed the 057 errors that have been bugging me - and a few others as well. I suspect that someone has updated the fixit behind my back :)
Please try and find the CheckSURlog.cab file it mentions and post it, if you do.

Also, run another SFC /SCANNOW and post the entire CBS folder - then I can try and work out what the fixit actually fixed :)

I tried opening the CheckSURlog.cab file and it said it could not open the "cabinet file".
How would I go about opening it? Am I supposed to access it through the file folders?

just upload it as a file attaching it to your reply

    - a .cab file a variant of a compressed file - it can be opened in WinRar or 7Zip, but you probably don't have the knowledge to make any sense of what's there (not sure that I do, yet!)

I am not sure where to find the .cab file in order to upload it. Sorry if I seem so dense I just have never even come across .cab files and IDK where to find this one to upload it so you can see it.

Anyway, here is the CBS zip folder from the SFC /SCANNOW.

Btw, what am I supposed to do with the CBS folder I copy and the zip file I make from it? Just Delete both of them?

Yep - you can delete both the copy and the zip - Windows looks after the originals, which is why you have to make copies :)

I'm not sure where to find the cab file myself - try using this command in a Command Prompt window...

    DIR C:\Windows\CheckSURlog.cab /S

It will take some time to run so be be patient! When the cursor comes back, post the output, and it'll tell us where it is (hopefully!)

Here are some instructions to make life easier :)

    1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.

    2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.

    3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.

Hi! I followed the instructions you posted up there^
    This is what came out.
I followed the "Directory of" line, and came to some files.

Let me know if those are it so I can upload them (or if I only need to upload one or the other).

    That found it @)
They could have put it in a more accessible place for us! - it's likely to have been deleted if you've rebooted, but we'll try anyhow

copy those two files you found to your desktop, zip them together and upload them in your response.

Sorry I took so long. Oddly enough, I hadn't turned off my computer. So the files are still from 10/15...
