Excellent! Good news is that the fixes you already resolved seems to have helped a lot. Windows automatically applied the updates overnight successfully, and it seems the BSOD errors have gone away.

    I've uploaded a file - gbwab.zip- to my SkyDrive at Noel's SkyDrive
    Please download and save it.

Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all...
Change the target to C:\ and click on Extract
Close all windows (it would be a good idea to print theseinstructions!)
Now reboot to the Repair Environment - as soon as the machine restarts, starttapping F8 - this should bring up the Advanced Boot Menu, at the top of whichshould be the option 'Repair my Computer'
    Pick that
You'll have to log in with your username and password.

Pick the option to use a Command Prompt
    At the prompt type
    DIR C:\gbwab
hit the enter key - if you get a 'NotFound' error try
    DIR D:\gbwab
    or
    DIR E:\gbwab

The drive letter in use when you find the folder willneed to be substituted (for<drive>) into the followingcommand...

    XCOPY<drive>:\gbwab <drive>:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h

    (e.g.XCOPY P:\wfire P:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h )

run the command (it should take almost no time)andwhen the prompt returns, type
    EXIT
and hit the Enter key to exit CommandPrompt - reboot to Normal Mode Windows.

Now run SFC /SCANNOW in anElevated Command Prompt
    then reboot.

Then run the CheckSUR tool again.
    Reboot again.

copy the entire C:\Windows\Logs CBS folder to your desktop, zip it, and attach the zip file to your response (if it's too big, strip out the oldest CBSPersist files until it fits under 8MB)

Also run a new MGADiag report, and post the result.

Making progress! Looks like there may be 1 or 2 errors left.

    etc..
Still - it's not as bad as it might be :)

I'll run up a fix for that lot - probably tomorrow, now as I'm tied up for the rest of the day - and then we'll get back on the CheckSUR errors.

Sorry about the delay - the list of files was actually 180+, rather than the indicated 119
I've got the vast majority sorted, so let's get them in and see where we end up :)

Wow! Really appreciate all the effort you're put into this. Downloading and applying the fixes now. Will report back...

Edit: Hmmm... Skydrive is not letting me download. Keeps saying "Unable to scan for viruses." That's a SkyDrive message, not my virus software. I'll try again later and see if it works itself out.

I've had that once or twice - I'm not sure why, but it could mean the file is corrupted.
I'll upload a fresh copy later when I can get a stable connection (in the pub!)

    I've managed to re-upload it now - I don't know how well!

    See if it works.
