That's how i did it, wanted you to check for mistakes. Anyway after applying 2nd command it did say 1 file copied. But SFC /scannow failed again; it says 'windows resource protection couldn't perform the requested operation'. I have attached the new CheckSUR.log and CBS.log file.
Something has changed at least, the error is now...
compare that with the earlier...Code:Line 25154: 2013-10-24 18:48:40, Error CSI 0000000b (F) STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_NOT_FOUND #127254# from Windows::Rtl::SystemImplementation::DirectRegistryProvider::SysOpenKey(flg = (AllowAccessDenied), key = {provider=NULL, handle=0}, da = (KEY_READ|DELETE|KEY_WOW64_64KEY), oa = @0xe1d390->OBJECT_ATTRIBUTES {s:48; rd:NULL; on:[202]"\Registry\Machine\COMPONENTS\DerivedData\VersionedIndex\6.1.7601.17592 (win7sp1_gdr.110408-1631)\ComponentFamilies\amd64_microsoft-windows-ribbons_31bf3856ad364e35_none_13aa4d7e75702d91\\u0088!6.1.7671.17514"; a:(OBJ_CASE_INSENSITIVE)}, disp = Unmapped disposition: 14799664 (0x00e1d330))[gle=0xd0000034] Line 25157: 2013-10-24 18:48:41, Error CSI 0000000d (F) STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_NOT_FOUND #127253# from Windows::Rtl::SystemImplementation::DirectRegistryProvider::SysOpenKey(flg = 0, key = {provider=NULL, handle=0}, da = (KEY_READ|DELETE|KEY_WOW64_64KEY), oa = @0xe1d390->OBJECT_ATTRIBUTES {s:48; rd:NULL; on:[202]"\Registry\Machine\COMPONENTS\DerivedData\VersionedIndex\6.1.7601.17592 (win7sp1_gdr.110408-1631)\ComponentFamilies\amd64_microsoft-windows-ribbons_31bf3856ad364e35_none_13aa4d7e75702d91\\u0088!6.1.7671.17514"; a:(OBJ_CASE_INSENSITIVE)}, disp = Unmapped disposition: 14800728 (0x00e1d758))[gle=0xd0000034]
I'm not sure exactly why it's changed in this way - I thought I'd done a simple one-character change to the registry!Code:Line 12249: 2013-10-23 21:57:26, Error CSI 0000000d (F) STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_NOT_FOUND #127343# from Windows::Rtl::SystemImplementation::DirectRegistryProvider::SysOpenKey(flg = 0, key = {provider=NULL, handle=0}, da = (KEY_READ|DELETE|KEY_WOW64_64KEY), oa = @0xd0d230->OBJECT_ATTRIBUTES {s:48; rd:NULL; on:[215]"\Registry\Machine\COMPONENTS\DerivedData\VersionedIndex\6.1.7601.17592 (win7sp1_gdr.110408-1631)\ComponentFamilies\amd64_microsoft-windows-removablestorage-adm_31bf3856ad364e35_none_66861ceee994be1f\w!6.1.760.16385"; a:(OBJ_CASE_INSENSITIVE)}, disp = Unmapped disposition: 13686264 (0x00d0d5f8))[gle=0xd0000034] Line 12250: 2013-10-23 21:57:26, Error CSI 0000000e@2013/10/23:15:57:26.292 (F) d:\win7sp1_gdr\base\wcp\sil\merged\ntu\ntsystem.cpp(3676): Error STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_NOT_FOUND originated in function Windows::Rtl::SystemImplementation::DirectRegistryProvider::SysOpenKey expression: (null)
Please repeat the upload of your COMPONENTS file - it will have changed - so I can compare the two and see what I need to do next.
(it may be simpler now to delete the whole subkey or value and rebuild it, than to try and correct the current one)
Forests and tree....
The entry tagged as an error now actually refers to a completely different file which wasn't present in the original upload - so it looks as if we are indeed making progress!
I'll see what I can find in the new upload to work out whether there are traces in the earlier one that may lead me to a quicker fix than one file at a time :)
So you want me to re-copy the component file provided by you earlier and replace the one I have active now ? actually I think I misunderstood. You wanted me to upload the component file which is active now,,,assuming I am doing it right. Check it now plz. https://www.dropbox.com/s/thyxef9lzv...components.rar

OK - found the error in that Key, at least :)
Unfortunately, it's not of the same type as the earlier one, so it gives me no pointers in fixing any others.
It's going to take a while before I can check through the hive as well as I can - please don't attempt to install any new software until I've done it (and SHOUT if you haven't heard by tomorrow morning!)
How do I shout....? lol, joking. I have found a Windows 7 DVD, can I try using it for repairing ?
Aww - don't you want the fun and satisfaction of a manual repair?
If you want to do a repair install, I think it would work, but can't guarantee it.
See here for instructions...
Repair Install
aww man, it failed at 100%, said setup couldn't continue; restart, update windows and run setup again. I am really annoyed now. I, meanwhile, manage to contact Microsoft and they said they can fix it after remotely accessing my PC; but it will cost me $99 as it's not a free service anymore. This is so disgusting, they are making money by forcing people to pay.I am doomed now.
