SSD needs 4k-advanced format update when isntalling fresh windows7?

I got this old windows 7 x64 installation DVD from 2009 I believe. It is installed on my sata hdd. Over the years my system got the "4k-advanced format" software update for devices who use 4k-sectors - I'm guessing SSD's also use 4k-advanced format sectors?

Now I'm worried if I buy a Samsung SSD and use my DVD to install Windows 7 x64 this might go wrong. Because the installation-dvd does not have the 4k-advanced update yet - Might I be worried about nothing or does this need a workaround?

NI. I do not like to download ISO's form the internet with SP1 pre-installed or slipstreamed. My Windows is genuine and derived from Microsoft when I got a MSDN account needed for work. Most importantly I got special hw. installed which clashes with SP1. So I rather have a fresh installation on a new SSD exactly the way I got it installed on my HDD now. But I'm worried cloning from HDD -> SSD might provide performance issues.

I have never heard of that requirement. Installing on the SSD with your installation DVD should be a straight forward thing.

Perhaps you are thinking about 4k alignment when installing Windows7? If so there is no problem at all with an ssd and W7. After loading W7 you can check and if necessary align using "MINI TOOL PARTITION WIZARD" which is an excellent free program for hard drives and ssd's.
