    Reactivation question

I installed a new mother board with my old hard drive, everything went good. Windows said it would activate in 3 days or activate now, which I did, it said checking key then said activation successful. I did not have to do phone activation, it is a oem copy. Will I have problems later?

    Thanks, Gary

    Hi Gary!
    Welcome to Sevenforums.

    Now onto your question.

No you will not have any issues in the future with this activation, unless you use it more the 3 more times.

Even if you did have the problem, you would be able to phone Microsoft that way and activate.

    Hope this helps!

The number of times a Key is used is irrelevant (almost) - I know of some systems that have been re-activated over 100 times.
After each 5 times of Internet Activation on the same hardware, the Activation Server will force a telephone activation in order to check the validity of the license.

In the case of OEM System Builder licenses such as this, a strict reading of the license terms says that the license is locked permanently to the first motherboard on which it is installed, and the board cannot be replaced except under warranty conditions without requiring the purchase of a new license.
In practice, it seems that MS have unofficially (and erratically) been operating on a similar basis to the new Windows 8 OEMSB license, which allows transfer between motherboards for the original builder of the machine, but not for any subsequent owner.
Generally, if you don't activate more than once every 120 days, I doubt you'll have any problems.
