As requested, but here's hoping for the best.

Please attempt validation at www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate - what happens??
I'm happy to copy and paste this, NoelDP

BTW,
Do I need to make a new Win 7 Recovery disc now that the OS carries a different COA?
No, you don't need a new System Repair Disk.
I would always keep a backup image of the finished install so you have a way to restore irreparable Win7 in 20 minutes:
Backup Complete Computer - Create an Image Backup
Macrium - Image your system

You're right on the ball there, NoelDP. That's the first thing I did after successful activation. I'm using AOMEI BackUpper though. Only then did I realise that I had a system partition image backed up on an external HD dated before the drama started. It was a worthwhile learning experience, though.
Thanks again for your unstinting support.
Backups are always good :)
Your system appears to be properly activated and validated - but I have to admit to a little unease about it. I simply can't define the cause of the unease
Whatever - unless you get any non0genuine notifications, there shouldn't be anything to really worry about :)
