Windows 7: Multiple .NETFX Updates Failed: Error Code 643

08 Dec 2013   #11

Windows 7 Ultimate x64

5 Hard Drives ( I excluded one from system specs, it's mostly just there in case I need to copy a lot of data off fast, I have the 5th in a server tray to sata for fast transfers) I also have 2 DVD drives. I'm pretty positive I'm doing the right thing. I'm not so unfamiliar with command prompt. I ran DIR on drives from C: to G:, choosing G: when I discovered the typical install folders ( Windows, Users, Program Files, Program Files (x86), ...cjkaa. Command prompt reported the files copied fine. Ran recovery from a DVD, and install folder on option screen reported (unknown). I don't have any other boot options kept internal. I have some live installations on USB drives, Linux, XPPE, etc, but none on any internal HDDs. I DO however have some VMware installs kept on one of the drives, but they're kept in the standard VMware format vmx files. I think you gave me the right files, and I think I did the instructions properly. I'm just as baffled as you. The only thing I can come up with is maybe the files got corrupted during down/upload. I'll try to download from another PC and extract to a flash drive later tonight, hopefully with different results.

Thanks again for your help.

Certainly with 5 drives, there's the potential for the System partition to be anything from C to V! :)

Anything's possible - copying from another install or machine (or extracting from the original Windows DVD) is worth a go.
