    Windows Update Error: 800B0100, 9007065E, 8C47

    Hello,

I am having trouble with windows update failing to update after computer blue screened multiple times while it was updating. I have tried the windows hot fix and sfc/scannow and no change. Any help will be appreciated.
I figured out what the BSOD was caused by and turned it off to fix it (OC Genie)
    CBS Download: Here

    Thanks,
    Brad

this looks similar to a problem that i tried to help answer for someone else; basically to me it looks as if something somehow possibly corrupted 1 or more windows update files. If those files for windows update are corrupted and windows cant find the "built in" catalog of updates for drivers etc. it may possibly give you this error(s)

    I've uploaded a file - br1aa.zip - to my SkyDrive at Noel's SkyDrive
    Please download and save it.
Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Extract all…
Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder br1aa in the same place.
Open this folder - there should be two folders inside it (Manifests, and Packages)

Copy the content of the Packages folder to the folder
    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

And the content of the manifests folder (.manifest files) into this folder:

    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests

Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.

Which updates remain, with which error codes?

The 800B0100 error should be gone.
Have you done a manual check for updates again?

I always do use NPP :)
Ah - from the CBS log, it's fairly evident that the SoftwareDistribution folder is missing a lot of data, which is what's causing this error.....

The best way around this is probably to delete the whole folder - but I'm chicken, so we'll rename it instead :)

you will lose your Update history (but the updates will still be installed, and viewable in the Installed Updates listing).

    Open an Elevated Command Prompt
    Run the following commands

    NET STOP WUAUSERV
    REN C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution SDOLD
    NET START WUAUSERV

    wait 15 minutes, and reboot
then wait 10 minutes, and open Windows Updates, and run a Check for Updates.

Install only the oldest update found - and reboot once installed
then go back to Windows updates and install the others.

With any luck those will install properly if you use the standalone installer for each.

Start with the oldest. Search Google for the download to each update (KBxxxxxxx x64 download) download and save the file, then run it. Reboot after each.

The 'Illegal Character' errors appear to have gone from the CBS.log, and the last significant error was recorded at 2013-12-15 01:45:36 - so it looks like everything should work.
