Windows Update error 800B0100 - log attached

    Hi,

I am having an issue where there are 2 important updates that will not proceed and come up with the Windows Update error 800B0100.

I have tried disabling windows update service and then deleting the downloads folder under c:\windows\software distribution and running the system update readiness tool to no avail.

The two updates that are failing are

Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2868623)
Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2888049)

These two are preventing the IE 11 update as well.

I am running windows 7 ultimate 64 bit.

In the checkSUR.log the summary says

    Summary:
    Seconds executed: 1175
    Found 18 errors
CSI Manifest All Zeros Total count: 10
CBS MUM Corrupt Total count: 4
CBS Catalog Corrupt Total count: 4

The SFC scan is clear - and the background CBS data appears to be clear apart from the problems noted in the CheckSUR log.
I'll post a fix protocol for the errors a bit later.

    I've uploaded a file - fruaa.zip - to my SkyDrive at Noel's SkyDrive
    Please download and save it.
Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Extract all…
Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder fruaa in the same place.
Open this folder - there should be two folders inside it (Manifests, and Packages)

Copy the content of the Packages folder to the folder
    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

And the content of the manifests folder (.manifest files) into this folder:

    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests

Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.
