A happy new year to everyone who took time to read and answer my queries!

I'll try to catch up on all the posts one by one, if I miss one let me know!

Yes, Layback bear, you got it right, I skipped the Norton removal tool stuff and just went to the NETSH WINSOCK RESET and IPCONFIG /ALL and that seemed to do the trick.....

USERNAME ISSUES.... yes you are right its for a larger network that is wired.... I do so much in a day and I communicate with IP professionals (who unfortunately over the years got "memos" to not help people like me unless it is "official" business and my home computer----purchased with my own funds (more complicated its relatives' Windows 7 as I don't have one yet) that I care for things like updates and keeping it running like the IP's do at work.... so I unfortunately have too many DOS screens in my mind and they overlap so I try using things like NT UNIX C## etc at home and it just messes me up especially when I have a terminal here on the computer that I can access a larger mainframe so I tend to get used to seeing the black screens at home as well... so therefore the confusion... don't know how to unedit the post to fix that so this explanation will be left here for those who see me confusing different systems----I just speak too many languages and programs and its just all melds into one another.. sorry...

FOR ALL:

I do appreciate having a site with such experts on it (all of you!) as again I cannot "officially" consult with the IT team at work anymore except about computers at work and they are all different types from mainframes, Sun, Dell, laptops/desktops et al.... I use them all for different purposes.... sometimes in the same day... so its really confusing to me.... lots of note books I carry to help me when I get stuck and need a reminder... The "NETSH WINSOCK RESET" does go in home one but if similar thing ever occurred at work I'd try that before calling for help as it can take a day or two of no computer use---they are way overloaded there....

USERNAME ISSUES: Yes thanks for any help you provided me (not checking) for the VM issue, got me past using the abeit limited one on the laptop (relative's one anyway---was to be for them to use extensive library of XP titles at home), and it opened up a whole new world including several Mac OSX : Snow Leopard et al... Just can't get Mountain Lion to work as there is a "orilla" group that has the cracked version of that program but I can't communicate with them to ask why my installation stops at their "step 5" if I remember it, as Spanish Country of origin for the group uses a "coded" answer to register humans (not bots), and for whatever reason, my installation of the Lion on Oracle Virtual Box, in this PC does not produce that proper "code" to let me register to their Forum so I can ask why is my installation stopping at "step 5". I tried to write/email to them, but again you can't write or post on their BB unless you prove you are a owner (legitimate) of the Lion system. The owner's Email of course is "full" so message bounces back. I looked up site on its domain hosting and got the owner's Email. Further complicating things is the download of Mountain Lion is only accessible through the Apple store so thereby is the problem as the store does not "see" my Oracle VM as a full Lion system. Don't have to erase this its not how to crack the system as I did everything "legitimately" as orilla says you can... I purchased my own copies of the OS's even though they are not locked by product keys like Windows is-----but guess I'll leave this conversation for my Apple Forums... hard having a dual computer system at home to switching back and forth)..... but necessary as work is 99% Windows and they don't like Macs so all my Mac work has to be translated for them to read and use the graphics stuff I do... sigh.... its difficult being between the two giants Gates vs Jobs.... I feel squished most of the time in that area)...on top of all the switching with the work systems....

---------------------------------------

Again, enjoy the new year, I'll mark this as solved soon as you read this....
