1) I avoid Softpedia for anything - mostly because it's too awkward to avoid clicking on the wrong download button.
2) NO - MS NEVER recycle KB numbers, as the number is issued at the start of a project, not the end (which is why there are so many gaps in the published numbers), and that number stays with all internal systems forever.
If for any reason (such as happened here) a patch has to be reworked, then it will be re-issued as version .x under the same KB number - and WU will pick it up since it checks versioning through the cat/mum/manifest file system to ensure that the latest version is installed.
3) Yeah - I posted it, but it seems to have been deleted (or got lost in the post).
4) Quite possible - this is likely to be because of cretins like Softpedia probably still offering the older patch and causing problems.
