Windows 7 Ultimate x86 Service Pack 1 update failures

Have made repeated attempts to install SP-1 (KB976932) and all are failures. Installed System Update Readiness Tool (KB947821) and still fails.
The failure code I get is: 0X800F0826
Tried to attach the requested CBS-zip file but it is 11.4MB and apparently the max allowed is 8MB, so it failed also!
So probably not enough for any assistance Thanks!

Delete the older CBSPersist files and try again.

I can see no evidence that you've run an SFC or a CheckSUR scan there - pleas follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the data.

    I took the off ramp...

NoelDP: I didn't abandon you just took a little time to get this all sorted out. I followed your instructions and EVERY way and time I tried to sort through the fault I got this same result. Finally I pulled the plug on the operation and just loaded a fresh O/S with SP-1 from digitalrivercontent.net. Probably it was time to refresh anyway. All is fine now and there are no errors; went smooth as silk.
I REALLY appreciate your response and assistance, but I am afraid that I was running 'over my head' on that one.
    THANKS, Idahjo
