    The event that triggers the rollback involves a couple of files -
    Please open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following commands - they may help me understand what's going on.

    DIR "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VSTA\AppInfoDocument"
    ICACLS "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VSTA\AppInfoDocument" /T
    ICACLS "C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5\addinutil.exe"

    Post the results.

    The folder 'AppInfoDocument' for the first two doesn't exist.

    The third gives:
    Code:
    C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5\addinutil.exe NT SERVICE\TrustedInstalle
    r:(F)
                                                          BUILTIN\Administrators:(RX
    )
                                                          NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:(RX)
                                                          BUILTIN\Users:(RX)

    Ok so I just manually created the AppInfoDocument folder, ran the update and it worked!
    I would've thought a Microsoft update would create a folder if it needed it there?? Oh well it's happy now.
    Thanks for all your help! :)
