MS Visual Studio 2008 update failing every startup

I have an update trying to install every time I shutdown, but every time it fails:

Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1 XML Editor (KB2251487)

Under the error details it says Code 643

I haven't been able to find a working solution to this problem anywhere else, can anyone help?

Code 643 errors are a pain

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data

The SURT tool did not specify 643 so I'm assuming I don't need to use that?
The SFC Scan just says Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations. Because of that, I'm guessing the logs files probably don't show anything in this case?

Please run the SURT tool anyhow and post ALL the requested logs - the background data is useful.

Ok sure. I had to use wetransfer because the file was too big to upload here...

Hmm - in this case, the background data reveals nothing that I can see
Perhaps the C:\windows\windowsupdate.log will be more revealing? - please upload it and we'll see.

    Unfortunately, not!
Try installing it from the standalone... Download Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1 XML Editor Security Update from Official Microsoft Download Centre
If/when it fails, hunt for the log file it should create - upload that and I'll take a look and see if it's revealing at all.

During installation the progress bar moves up to approx. 90% then recedes back down to 0% before saying it has failed.
It gave me this lovely 17mb log file... Manual Install Log File

I had heard rumours that the file was rather large :)
It will take some time for me to digest this... back when I can.

Please bump if I leave it too long! :)
