    System restore and Windows updates

    Hi everyone....

I did a System Restore shortly after ( about an hour later) A Windows Update ( actually 3 Windows update items).

    I was curious...will a Sytem Restore remove a very recent Windows Update(s)?

I checked in the ADD/Remove .."view installed updates" and those Windows Updates in question are listed. Also, when I go to "Windows update history" those particular Windows updates are listed as "successful" under "status".

So I am assuming that the Sytem Restore did not and does not remove Windows Updates.

    Is this correct?

Actually, yes it usually will undo any windows updates that were done after the restore point date and time.

Are you sure the windows updates were done after the restore point was created?

I did the restore back to the day before of the Windows updates.

As I had mentioned, the updates are showing up as successful and they are showing up in the control panel... "view installed updates"

One of the main functions of Restore is to allow you to back out of updates. Not all updates have uninstallers and when an update creates a problem in your system, restore is the way to get rid of it. Thus yes, updates do disappear if you restore to a restore point from when the updates were installed (or earlier).

I recommend after using a Restore Point to update all Security programs and run Windows Updates a couple of times or until their are no more updates.
Also make sure that other things are updated.
All updates of programs after the Restore Point date will not be there.
    Example:
If you updated Adobe on January 16 and you did a Restore Point back to January 14 the Adobe update will be gone and will need to be updated again.
Ops we posted at the same time. Sorry
