thanks matts.. i think that as all the relevant updates relate to other timezone i may (in the absence of a fix) hide the update and see if other later updates are ok?

wishfull thinking perhaps.. unless anybody has a fix??

CheckSUR shows 26 Payload files missing... all sample files for WMP
the SFC log shows...nothing! - presumably because the failure was too early in its run

The background CBS data is revealing - and shows a number of registry problems.

Have you been using some kind of System Optimizer or Registry Cleaner? If so, then that's almost certainly the cause of your problems.

I need to have a look at your COMPONENTS registry hive

Please copy the C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS file (no extension) to your desktop and then compress it - upload the compressed file to your favoured fileshare site (preferably Dropbox or SkyDrive) and post a link.

ASC is known for its total inability to conform to the 'regulations' surrounding Windows installs.
I would recommend undoing anything it's done using any inbuilt resources, or using System Restore.
Please then uninstall it - it is anyhow (at best) a skin over the available resources within Windows, apart from the Registry Destroyer function.
I'll analyse the logs later (after I've sobered up :))

    Unable to access

I undid the registry changes using the asc functions and then uninstalled it and rebooted.

I am now unable to access it. Teamviewer has not loaded which means either a new glitch or the machine gas failed to boot

Please let me know what the config review finds.

I will be able to look at the machine tomorrow and hopefully reboot it or perhaps a startup repair. Damn

I can only see backup files in the config folder - I would expect problems getting the SOFTWARE hive, but the COMPONENTS hive isn't normally loaded so should have been copied.

There do't appear to be any SFC data in the CBS log - Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data

    updated logs

    hi

i have uploaded and updated CBS zip file to dropbox. its the contents of the logs/cbs folder after re-running SUR and SFC. SFC stops at 12%

the machine seems OK save for sfc not running. malwarebytes finds nothing.

let me know what else you need to figure whats going on...

    THANKS
