    Dell inspiron, bigger hdd cloned win7 now not genuine. Suggestions


    Hi

    I have updated a failing drive in my Dell Inspiron 1545 to a 500gb. Win 7 now says it is not genuine and also won't update. Suggestions please. I have tried the normal options but need some guidance.

    This may simply be caused by a bad set of Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers -

    Installing the Intel Rapid Storage Drivers
    try downloading and installing them from here - https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=22194

    (you want the iata_enu.exe download)

    Once complete, please reboot twice, then post another MGADiag report.

    HDD clone issue

    Looked around the forum as pretty sure I have already tried re-validating and no it did not work. I replaced HDD with Toshiba 500Gb which required new drivers, that I knew but which ones. So I downloaded as advised elsewhere in the forum the Intel drivers. I have spent the last 3 hours installing the drivers and re-booting the issue here was it did not shut down so after 15 minutes waiting I forced the shut down, then I had the opposite it would say welcome and sit there waiting so after 15 minutes waiting for boot I forced a shut down again.

    Eventually 4 re-boots later it booted and said "Installing new drivers for Toshiba HDD" .

    I now have a fully working, validated Win 7 laptop which has just done a Windows update.

    My wife is going to be happy as it is her laptop, if I am allowed near the laptop I will post the diagnostics.

    Thanks for being so patient and guiding in the right direction.
