Ignoring security updates is not a good idea - you could end up with an ever-widening security gap

Please post the c:\windows\windowsupdate.log file and I'll see if there's anything there.

Win 7 Ultimate x64

Please see attached the log.

Since the time of the last thread I updated all I could and out of the important updates only that one mentioned earlier in the thread causes an issue.

Also, I have a 'windows update' update from the optional section that causes same issue.

I should mention the same issue has same symptoms but now doesn't geenrate an actual error message. Instead, whenever I try launch a non-windows program such as the IE browser, it actually opens the browser and tries to load it, but then freezes and finally closes with no message. As soon as I restore , the system is back to normal.

Finally, I cannot install IE 11. When I try it says configuration failure and reverts the changes.

Do you have Stardock installed at all? If so, uninstall it (at least tempororaily) and try Windows Update again.
Also -
Please download the Farbar Service Scanner from

Right-click on the saved file and select 'Run as Administrator', and tick all the options, then click on the Scan button - copy and paste the report to your response.
