Windows 7: "Not Genuine Windows"

17 Feb 2014   #11

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Thanks so much for your help. I know I'm old and stodgy, but I"m amazed at how poor Microsoft support has apparently gotten... Although, I rarely call them. It's awesome that the forum was able to help, but it's sad that we've deteriorated to the point where so many of use are having to rely on forums for help rather than the folks that created the software in the first place...

Any idea why the .exe I ran early this afternoon didn't fix all this? I THOUGHT I got it from the same site, but I don't recall for sure...

Anyhow, do I rerun the validation stuff or is this fixed and I can ignore this whole Microsoft stupidity?

How do I stop W7 "calling home" and displaying "not genuine" messages?
MS thinks that one of my PCs is running W7 that's not genuine. It is genuine - at least I bought it from Amazon and paid 141 for it so that - to me - means it's genuine. It may not be but neither Amazon nor MS will take any responsibility for it not being genuine so I've given up with them both. I...
