There's not enough data in the CBS log to be able to diagnose the problem there - but if you're getting Memory problems, then those must be dealt with first, as they could corrupt anything else we do.

Do you have the knowledge to deal with this yourself, or do you need instructions?

I had a feeling it was hardware, as in my OP, just been a few frustrating days

I'm fine for repairs, built a few PC's before and installed windows loads of times, i'll be fine

just frustration that this install has been the worst lol

ordered 1 stick, as it's not my PC to just go out and get decent RAM (and the folk can't afford much), i'll swap 1 out, try the memory test, see what it says, if it's not good, i'll swap the other out.

ordered a HDD off of an amazon voucher we had, so if the HDD playing up i'll maybe swap it out as well

thanks for all the help from all who replied, i'll not solve this thread just yet until this stick arrives.

    :)

I'm just running the PC with 1 stick of RAM (4GB), i'll add the other in when I get it delivered, but this way I can hand the PC back.

How many updates to install? Install only a few at a time. Or even only 1 every time. Which patches are really not-installable?

It looks you are not the original poster of this thread. Neither any of the responders. Why are you posting here and not in your own new post??

Be patient and don't overreact. Of course 10 hours is far too long.

Why have two patches brackets (the first 2)?
    What error messages?

Is pc running slow when doing all kind of things, or only when installing?
