    Windows 7 Service Pack 1 for x64-based Systems (KB976932) "FAILED"


    Hi can someone please help! I have 2 important updates that keep failing, I have spent hours trying to sort it and now hours trying to register on here and follow all the instructions to try fixing and logging my actions etc, and Im getting nowhere!

    Ive done everything it said to do but I cant get the cbs.zip file to load on here???

    These are the updates:
    Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2667402) - Error details: Code 8024200D
    Windows 7 Service Pack 1 for x64-based Systems (KB976932) - Error details: Code 80070490

    HELP!!!!!

    ...if the zip file won't upload, remove the oldest CBSPersist file and try again - it almost always means that the upload is too large (Max 8MB)

    I did follow the instructions, and i have posted the two updates and their fail codes, I just cant upload the cbs.zip file.what is the " oldest cbs persist file"

    I found the cbs persist files, i deleted the oldest but its still too large, still 18mb.
    There are 4 cbs persist files in the folder??

    Delete the later CBSPersist files as well - see if that brings it below the limit

    I have deleted the older ones too and the compressed folder is still 8.45mb so still too big! help.!

    The Essential files we need are CBS.log and CheckSUR.log - compress them separately if necessary, and upload each.

    Got there in the end :)

    There are actually no errors in the SFC log, and none in the CheckSUR log.

    There are however a few minor errors in the background CBS.log data.
    For the moment, we can ignore them.

    Please download the offline installer for KB2667402 from here... Download Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2667402) from Official Microsoft Download Centre

    attempt to install it, and then do a new Check for Updates after it installs (hopefully!)

    Hi again! I followed that link and it comes up saying the following updates were not installed!

    Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2667402) has been failing to install since ‎14/‎06/‎2012!!

    Windows 7 Service Pack 1 for x64-based Systems (KB976932) has been failing to install since 17/‎03/‎2012!!
