Kill off annoying 'updates ready' notification?

There are a number of updates that are either not applicable or not wanted that I remove the check in the check-off box when I install.

However, there appears to be no way to 'hide' or 'remove' those updates from the list. Consequently, even though I've updated my machine in the manner in which I choose, I'm still bothered by the MS' badgering to install ALL the updates on the list.

Is there not a way to deal with this annoyance other than setting updates to not notify?

Mark when you get the updates that are available (I always set to let me know but choose which to download see pic) so when you get the list right click on the update you don't want and select Hide. That should stop it from coming up again.

I thought by now by right click would have become automatic. Thanks.
