Failure installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1

I've been trying to install this service pack all week. I've looked at all the forums I could find and applied all the fixes I could, but I'm still not having any luck.

I thought I might have found a soluton on this page (see below)

    • First, the reason the install seems to be failing is that a driver is not updating properly. So, you will need to find out which one.
    • Navigate to the following log file: c:\windows\inf\setupapi.dev.log
    • Open the file and look for an entry indicating a driver that failed to update. Something like:
sto: Failed to find driver update 'C:\Windows\WinSxS\amd64_usbvideo.inf_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16543_none_8a1a2513d42628c3\usbvideo .inf' in Driver Store. Error = 0×00000490
The way I found this file was to just press <ctrl - f> and type in "failed" in the search box. Took me right to this line.
    • Next, copy the path (C:\Windows\WinSxS\amd64_usbvideo.inf_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16543_none_8a1a2513d42628c3\usbvideo .inf ). Just highlight it in the log file and copy the path.
    • Open a elevated command prompt. Click Start > All Programs > Accessories. Right click "Command prompt" and click "Run as administrator". Click "Yes."
    • At the command prompt, type (without the quotes and with a space before the "-") "pnputil -a" and then right click and paste the path you copied above. Press Enter.
    • You will see Windows Security dialog box. Choose Install this driver software anyway.
    • Wait a moment for a pnputil to finish working. "Number successfully imported: 1" should be
    the last line is shows.
    • This was all I needed to do. I then attempted to install the service pack and it installed successfully!
I followed the instrustions, and found this repeated several times in the log file:
Failed to find driver update 'C:\Windows\WinSxS\amd64_tsgenericusbdriver.inf_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17514_none_9872c8452ac8f81 6\tsgenericusbdriver.inf' in Driver Store. Error = 0x00001A90
However, when I tried to add that with the pnp utility in the command prompt, it gave me the error:
Adding the driver package failed : Invalid INF passed as parameter.
Edit: I've run the SURT multiple times, the most recent error code was: Error: 0x0800f081f, and attatched CBS log and setupapi.dev.log

I'm at my wit's end, and any help you guys could offer I'd greatly appreciate.
