You have a KMS Volume License Key for Enterprise - such Keys require activation at private servers, not at MS's public servers.

From where did you get this Key? You need to contact your System Admin for assistance.

You will lose NO data when it goes out of grace period - but MSE will start a 30day countdown if installed, and cease working at the end.

This is a computer that I had from a previous job and just hadn't accessed for a long time until my personal laptop got stolen a few weeks back. It is no longer connected to the original server---contacting former companies IT department not really an option that I wish to pursue.

Can I buy/upgrade/downgrade from Enterprise 7 to another version and not lose the current SW installed?

Your computer should have a COA sticker on it for Windows 7 Pro (or Ultimate)
You can do a clean install using that Key together with retail media - you can download the SP1 media from the links provided here....

    http://www.heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science/microsoft

There is no way to activate Enterprise edition with other than Volume License Keys, which are not available to the general public.

Thanks for your time & the help...However, I am not a computer person...so, sorry for the remedial questions that I'm about to ask...

What do you mean by retail media? I don't have all of the codes related to all the SW that's installed...and there is not a sticker on the computer. The key that I found from running a program was no longer a valid key when I called Microsoft.

I also have no clue what a clean install entails and for some reason when I try to burn to a disk it is giving an error but I can move files to external hard drive. Is there a way to get my installed SW to the external hard drive and reinstall after I would do this clean install that you refer to? Is this something that a non computer person should attempt on their own?

The COA sticker may be inside the battery compartment (It probably is, considering it's a Dell)
See here for instructions on a Clean Install. Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

For the license codes for your other software, try Belarc Advisor - www.belarc.com or ProduKey - www.nirsoft.net

Thanks! You were correct...the sticker was under the battery

So...now that I have that product key do I still need to do a clean install? Hoping the answer is no...but, the way my luck is going these days...guessing the answer is yes.

I also used the download you suggested and it showed product keys for installed SW.

Afraid so - you have to do a downgrade and that's the only way :-(
