    first off thanks for answering
I have run the first two on the list spyware found 30 threats removed them malware found 92 and removed them when I went to the bleepingcomputer one it put up a warning saying not usually downloaded and could be a threat to my computer .. is this going to damage something other than viruses
in the meantime I tried the updates they still don't work

qubed if you are worried and really there isn't anything to worry about with ADW you often get that message but before you run it back up the registry if you want to.
See this and read it first doesn't take long and it will be there if you need it. As a matter of course I always do this with fresh installs or if I am going to do anything in the registry as you can always restore from the back up. Registry - Backup and Restore

Now one thing we can try is to disable the security when you try the updates again. Plus as a purely personal point of view I think McAfee is really not much good as an AV in any case. But you like it and it is a personal choice of course but there are better security suites to be had even some of the free one.
But again I am saying this purely because I have used it in the past and found it rather feeble.

You could download this if it is already on then it will not install anyway
Download System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB947821) [February 2014] from Official Microsoft Download Centre
