    Error code 0xC004C008

    Hello I took an update that popped up from AVG last week and on restart my computer wouldn't restart, I tried all I could think of to fix it without any luck in the end I did a reinstall, during the install it said
    "windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available and restart the installation. Error Code 0x80070017.

    I burned the iso for Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit from digital river to a usb, that install went fine I put my product key in when asked and it went ahead a few days later I noticed in the control pannel>>system it said
    "2 days untill automatic activation. Activate windows now." The product key it was showing next to change product key was not the one I had put in if that matters. After putting my key in I got the error code 0xC004C008 and it said the activation server determined that the specified product key could not be used although the other day when I did it I am sure it mentioned that it had been used on more than one machine.

    All I can say about that is I have used the recovery disk quite a lot of times on my computer but I did use it on my daughters computer when hers was showing not genuine and it worked on hers so yes I did use it on another computer is there anything I can do or have I just got to get another product key.

    I was thinking of maybe doing an upgrade install on top of the one I have now perhaps.

    Here is the MGADiag Tool scanand thank you for any help.

    You'll probably have to give Microsoft a ring.
    Click on the Start button. In the Search box, type SLUI 4 and press Enter.
    Follow the instructions, but when asked which service you require do not reply. You will be transferred to an operator.
    Explain that you have two computers and might have mixed up the serials. As long as you have a separate serial for each computer (matching the version of W7 installed!) they will help you activate.

    Please post a new MGADiag report - that shouldn't have fixed the problems I see in your report!

    It does indeed look fine now - the
    Code:
    Licensing Data-->
    C:\Windows\system32\slmgr.vbs(1131, 5) (null): 0xC004F012
    error that I saw in the first has obviously been cleared somewhere along the way - which is unusual, because it can be a very difficult error clear!

    Good luck!
