Windows update encountered an unknown error 80070005

Hi so whilst trying to do windows 7 updates i keep getting error code this error code:

error code 80070005, windows update has encountered an unknown error, Windows cant update important files and services while the system is using them. save any open files and the restart the computer.

I have no files open whilst the updates are running so im not sure why the last part of the message comes up.

It should be noted that recently my pc has been unable to recognise any external devices like phones and cameras and my pc has no malware or virus as stated in my other forum post about this issue with external devices.

coming back to this main issue though, does anyone know how this can be resolved?

You appear to have some adware installed - specifically, Bandoo.

I think a malware scan is probably the first order of business, while I check through your other logs.- there doesn't appear to be any result from the CheckSUR scan in your upload?

Please download and install Malwarebytes Anti-malware (free version) from http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/ - UNtick 'Enable free trial of MBAM PRO' at the end of the installation - and update it, then run a full scan in your main account, and Quick scans in any other user accounts.

Your CBSPersist log shows a rather serious problem.

This implies that there is some major corruption in your registry - specifically, the SYSTEM hive.

Let's see if we can get some closer idea of where the problem lies.

Please open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following commands...

    REG QUERY HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet
    REG QUERY HKLM\SYSTEM
    REG QUERY "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList"

    Post the results...

Here are some instructions to make life easier :)
    1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.
    2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.
    3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.

From a similar case in the MalwareBytes forums, it seems that the MBAM installer error can be caused by a badly infected system

However, it can happen because of other reasons, and may be curable by uninstalling and cleaning MBAM out properly, and then reinstalling it.

See the instructions here - https://forums.malwarebytes.org/inde...owtopic=146017 - run the cleaner rwice (with a REBOOT in between!) before rebooting, and attempting to install MBAM again.

What Anti-Virus are you currently running? What other AV's have EVER been used on this machine?

Your script results are pretty normal apart from one oddity which I'd like to see a little ore detail of

Please open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following command...

    REG QUERY HKLM\SYSTEM\Software
