    cant activate windows 7,slui.exe access is denied


    I cant activate my windows 7,whenever i try to do it it says cannot access slui.exe,access is denied.I tried logging onto the admin account,same problem in admin also....please help

    Recreate the Licensing Store
    Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories
    Right-Click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator - accept the UAC prompt
    Run the following commands in the Command Prompt window, using the Enter key at the end of each

    net stop sppsvc
    (wait until the service has stopped before entering the following lines)

    CD %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
    REN tokens.dat tokens.bar
    net start sppsvc
    slui.exe

    After a couple of seconds the Windows Activation dialog will appear.
    You may be asked to re-activate and/or re-enter your product key, or Activation may occur automatically.
    If you are asked for your Key, use the one on the COA sticker on the machine's case

    Reboot and Post back with a new MGADiag report.

    (Note: the Line 'CD %win......\SoftwareProtectionPlatform' is all on one line - it may be broken in the Forum listing)

    I tried doing it,i did everything,but it still says slui.exe access is denied

    and it also says REN tokens.dat tokens.bar -THE SYSTEM CANNOT FIND THE FILE SPECIFIED

    That may be for a number of reasons - perhaps you've attempted the fix more than once, and the file hasn't been rebuilt.

    That being as it is, let's have a close look at the slui.exe file

    Open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following commands (the first may take a couple of minutes to complete - be patient!)

    DIR C:\Windows\slui.exe /s
    ICACLS C:\Windows\System32\slui.exe

    post the results

    Here are some instructions to make life easier :)
    1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.
    2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.
    3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.

    There's a problem with the WAT update still - let's try getting around that.

    Close all open windows.
    Open an Elevated Command Prompt window, and type the following command

    wusa /uninstall /kb:971033

    and hit the Enter key
    Accept the warnings/confirmations, and wait for it to complete

    copy and paste the output (if any) from the command prompt window to a reply here,
    Reboot

    reinstall the update from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971033
    Reboot

    run another MGADiag report, and post it.
