Thanks, Dude, glad to be here. I've followed the steps listed on that page, and I get the error message "The Windows 7 Professional Product Key you typed is invalid for activation." I sent this computer in for a hard drive replacement a month or two ago, and I'm beginning to suspect that the technician incorrectly typed the activation key, and I've reached the end of some sort of grace period.

After doing some further reading, it would seem that this oem key isn't usable, and given that I no longer have my COA, I'll need to buy a new key. Thanks for your help, Dude.

There's NO need to buy a new Key that I can see.

Please first try recreating Licensing Store.

    Recreate the Licensing Store
Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-Click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator - accept the UAC prompt
Run the following commands in the Command Prompt window, using the Enter key at the end of each

    net stop sppsvc
(wait until the service has stopped before entering the following lines)

    CD %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
    REN tokens.dat tokens.bar
    net start sppsvc
    slui.exe

After a couple of seconds the Windows Activation dialog will appear.
You may be asked to re-activate and/or re-enter your product key, or Activation may occur automatically.
If you are asked for your Key, use the one on the COA sticker on the machine's case

Reboot and Post back with a new MGADiag report.

(Note: the Line 'CD %win......\SoftwareProtectionPlatform' is all on one line - it may be broken in the Forum listing)

Hi Noel. My COA sticker has been worn down to the point that it is unreadable, unfortunately. I used a keyfinder to try and find the product key, entering that one brought up a OxC004e003 error.

The error you're getting is 'Invalid Binding Data' - 0xC004F032
This usually means that you've changed hardware at some point, and exceeded the (fairly loose) bounds that MS has set for changes.

The interesting thing is that it should be showing a very different error, as the Product Key you're using is for a Hewlett=Packard machine rather than an Acer.

Let's see what happens if you change the Key to the proper one for this machine/OS combination.

    Click on the Start button
    in the Search box, type

    SLUI 3

and hit the Enter key - the Key Change Wizard should pop up.

    now enter this Key
    YKHFT-KW986-GK4PY-FDWYH-7TP9F

and click the OK button - what happens?

Hrm. That is odd. I did have a hard drive replaced a month or two ago, and I've got a RAM stick that requires reseating every couple weeks, but I've made no hardware changes since. When I enter the provided key into SLUI 3, I receive error code 0xc004e003. See below for a new MGADiag report. Not sure if anything will have changed, but I figure tossing it on there can't hurt, eh.
