you need administration permission

Hi I am a single stand alone user. A home user. Therefore I am the administrator. Can't install windows updates. This is daft.

What do you mean "Can't install Updates" What happens when you try? I would have thought that as you are, as you say "A computer Geek" and "An IT Engineer" and "A website developer" you could be more explicit!
