    I've uploaded a file - eduac.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it to your desktop.
Right-click on the file and select Extract All, and save to the default destination (which should be a folder on the desktop)

Create a new System Restore point

Open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following commands.

    REN C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS COMPONENTS.OLD3
    COPY %userprofile%\desktop\eduac\COMPONENTS C:\Windows\System32\config

If you get an error with either command, STOP THERE - do not reboot! - post for instructions.

Assuming both commands go OK, reboot, and run another CheckSUR scan - post the new CheckSUR.log file.

With luck, I've got well over half of these fixed.

    I've uploaded a file - eduad.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it to your desktop.
Right-click on the file and select Extract All, and save to the default destination (which should be a folder on the desktop)

Create a new System Restore point

Open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following commands.

    DEL C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS.OLD*
    REN C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS COMPONENTS.OLD1
    COPY %userprofile%\desktop\eduad\COMPONENTS C:\Windows\System32\config

If you get an error with either command, STOP THERE - do not reboot! - post for instructions.

Assuming both commands go OK, reboot, and run another CheckSUR scan - post the new CheckSUR.log file.

Here's the new list - I notice that my event log shows that the hive is corrupted every time I load it, which is why things are going rather slowly. The problem is that making manual changes only goes so far- I have to rely on Windows for a lot of it, and it may be replacing the 'wrong' entries back in the system rather than ditching them - so I have to find ways around that.

I'll post a new edit later.

OK - next round (I'm slowly getting all the errors sorted out!)

    I've uploaded a file - eduae.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive

Right-click on the file and select Extract All, and save to the default destination (which should be a folder on the desktop)

    DEL C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS.OLD*
    REN C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS COMPONENTS.OLD1
    COPY %userprofile%\desktop\eduae\COMPONENTS C:\Windows\System32\config

If you get an error with either command, STOP THERE - do not reboot! - post for instructions.

All went well except for when I rebooted. The system said a process is completing and the system will be shutdown when completed. It went on for 3 hours so I powered down. It started with the prompt stating it was shut down incorretly and gave the option to start in safe mode. I chose to start in regular mode with no problem. here is the log
