I need help with Windows Update Error 80070308

Windows Update is not working. I researched the web and tried a number of fixes for this error code without result. I would greatly appreciate your assistance in resolving this issue. All of the information regarding the laptop I'm using is in my profile. Thank you.

Please open an elevated Command Prompt, and run the following command,

    REG LOAD HKLM\COMPONENTS C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS
    REG QUERY HKLM\COMPONENTS

    post the results.

Here are some instructions to make life easier :)

    1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.
    2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.
    3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.

I attached an image of the elevated command prompt result that NoelDP requested as "Capture CMD Result". Regarding FaberTech's questions, I ran the Readiness Tool as well as the Microsoft Fixit tool and it did not resolve my issue with Windows Update.

Good - that's what we expected...

Open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following commands

    Code:
    REG LOAD HKLM\COMPONENTS C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS
    REG DELETE HKLM\COMPONENTS /V PendingRequired

    .
then reboot, and try Windows Update again.

    Noel,

I followed your instructions and ran the script you provided using the elevated) cmd command (see attached image), then rebooted and tried to update windows. The update failed again with the same error code 80070308 (see attached image of results). What can I try next?

The second command never ran - you MUST hit the Enter Key before closing the window and rebooting.
    Please try the commands again.
