multiple successful service pack 1 updates

Every time I do an update my laptop installs service pack 1. Its clearly not there because I cannot install my anti virus which requires the os to be current. I have tried the fix from the self help thread but no luck

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data
If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

..you say that your AV requires the OS to be up-to-date - but SP1 was released in 2010 (or early 2011).
What have you been using since then??

At least we now know you're running Vista, rather than Windows 7!

You already have Service Pack 2 for Vista installed, which means that Service pack 1 for Vista is already installed - and Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 will NEVER install, since it's a different OS.
