Lost all updates after trying to add Media Center

Had to do a successful repair install because of numerous system errors (current update KB2871997 keeps 'reinstalling')

Had a number of quirks but got everything going. Noticed today that there was no Media Center. To get media center back...I tried control panel add features but nothing happened...except my Windows Update history is all gone...shows no updates installed.

What now...do I again repair install ?

Also...I downloaded and burned the current iso file as recommended in this post (current update KB2871997 keeps 'reinstalling') and all seemed well - minus the few quirks - but now I have no Media Center" and all records of updates seem to be gone ?

Do I try another repair install...and if so...should I use my regular DVD licensed install disk...which must have Media Center on it...or is the some where else I can get an iso file from that has up to date updates...etc...and media Center included ?

Or..can I bring Media Center back to the original iso install dvd from my original installation dvd ?

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data
If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Surt reported no issues

sfc /scannow

CBS.zip (33.8 MB - getting error attached (error5.jpg)...previously loaded larger CBS.zip without issues ?

I've never seen this kind of error before - and have no real idea how to even start fixing it

Almost Certainly, your quickest solution will be a repair install of Windows.

OK Noel...want to check one more thing first...in the attached jpg can I delete all the except the latest dated 8/25 ( CbsPersist_20140825155032.cab ) ?

Is there any reason to keep the older ones Logs/CBS ?
