PS When I manually downloaded the Windows Update (option 1), it actually started searching for updates (Never done that before, usually just immediately says error) but then went to the same error again. I believe I downloaded the Vista Windows Update. Couldn't find the Windows 7 manually update on that page. Maybe that is the reason? :S I'm using the Vista Update???? I have no clue, but this is making me mad.

You have to download Readiness Tool for your system (you didn't say what kind of system architecture do you have -x32 or x64),double click on it and follow to creator -nothing more

firegenul, I get a notification in cmd saying "'firegenul is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

    I've attached the sfcdetails.
Have you placed it in folder C:\Windows\System32 as I said? If yes and if not working I suspect also issue with system environmnets issue.
Try another system command for example

    ipconfig

    Log from sfcdetails.txt is OK

Open regedit and check do you have this key

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate

If you find this key, remove it +restart

Believe you mentioned she just got the computer last night. Take it back to the store and let them deal with the problem. I assume she bought it retail?

Okay, I was looking through regedit and I stumbled upon two entries in the pathway HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\DontPromptForWindowsUpdate and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\DontSearchWindowsUpdate

I tried deleting these entries to see if this would help, but I got the same error so I just did a system restore. I didn't know if these were common, but they sounded like they couldve helped. Just throwing this out there.

These keys are strange - I don't have them.Possibly you had more restrictions thus removing them didn't help.In future:

there is method to reset restrictions to default"

Run cmd.exe with administrative previlliges and type

    secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\inf\defltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb /verbose

    + restart
