Windows Update Update KB2887535 code 800F0900 corrupt files ?

    Hello,

Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 with Windows Updates set to download but no install yet, since many tools start at startup.
However our friends decided to install Windows Update Agent 7.6.7600.320 without asking.
This caused a full hang of the system, including frozen mousepointer.
Hardreset made it come back and it booted up.
But Windows Update now needs to install this update which fails with error code 800F0900.
Found kb2887535 for manual install, which failed with error 800b0100.
Found kb947821 and ran it. Last %SYSTEMROOT%\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log attached.

sfc /scannow reports Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
    WUC code 800F0900
    CBS Logs attached.

Seems some Unavailable repair files ?

    Kind regards,
    Dukejoost

You have a problem with the Windows Update Agent.
    CheckSUR found the following problems...
    Code:

If we're lucky, I can fix this tomorrow....

I'll post a fix protocol when I can.

    Sorry for the delay...

    I've uploaded a file - djtaa.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
    Please download and save it.
Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Extract all…
Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder djtaa in the same place.
Open this folder - there should be two folders inside it (Manifests, and Packages)

Copy the content of the Packages folder to the folder
    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

And the content of the manifests folder (.manifest files) into this folder:

    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests

Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.

The packages were fixed OK, but not the manifests - this almost certainly means that you either copied the Manifests folder (rather than the contained files), or copied the files to the wrong place.

    Please try again....
    from the folder djtaa.

    Thank you for your reply.
Indeed I should read and not assume.
    I used C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Manifests
    instead of C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests.

    New log files attached.
    Seems all fixed.

    CheckSUR is happy now :)

Do another SFC scan - if it comes back with no problems, do a new Search for Updates, then try the update again.
If it finds problems and can't fix them, post the new CBS.log file, and we'll work on that.
