    Windows Will Not Activate!, error 0xC004C008


    my HP Pavillion laptop which I have had for about over 5 years was upgraded from vista to 7 this year and aparrantly, my OEM disc with 3 licenses on it will not activate the key for this pc (because it is the 3rd one to do so). I checked and it gave me the error code 0xC004C008 and I am not sure what this means, can anyone help?

    'OEM Disk with three licenses'? There are three-packs of OEM System Builder disks, but my understanding was that these contained 3 disks as well.

    That said, you almost certainly just need to use Operator Activation.


    telephone activation (operator calls)
    Click on the Start button
    in the Search box, type
    SLUI 4
    and hit the Enter key
    follow the instructions, but when asked which service you require by the telephone ansafone, do NOT reply - this should force an operator to respond, who can deal with you

    actually, they only gave us a case with one disc that can be used 3 times, first 2 worked, the last one didn't

    How many product keys?
    Each licnse should have a unique key.
    Assuming you haven't been conned or confused the keys then telephone activation should work
