    Windows 7 Activation Problem

    Hi!
I got my desktop at home repaired, not knowing that the Windows 7 Ultimate used to repair was not genuine. Now, being only 14, I can't buy anything above INR (Indian Rupees) 1,000(Because of my 96% in class 5) . I can't get the Get Genuine Kit, or a full new copy of W7. What to do?

Thats a tall tale, lol. You have 2 options- reinstall whatever OS you had prior to the repair, assuming you own a genuine OS license OR use an opensource, free OS like ubuntu.

Go and see the person who 'repaired' your computer. Take several large family members, if you have them.

To amplify what others have posted:

Do you have a license key for some other version, that was originally installed? (Should be on a sticker on the machine.) If so, you should be able to use it to re-install that OS. The only problem will be coming up with installation media for that.

If you do have the sticker with the genuine activiation key, this should work:

    Product Key Number - Change

Word of warning. If he's already activated that code then you will not be able to activate it on another machine.
