Windows could not check for updates automatically

This error comes up in Action Center after logging into Windows. When I try to manually check for updates, it fails with a code 800b0100 unknown error. The PC is running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1.

I have tried to run the System Update Readiness tool from the Microsoft website to fix but to no avail.

sfc /scannow results in Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

    I have attached c:\windows\logs\CBS below.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Azeworai,
The error code suggests a corrupted download of the updates. Can you try deleting the contents of C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download? This should be safe. And then try to download and install the updates again.

I have tried emptying out the Download folder but the Windows Update still fails with the same error code.

    Good work! - well done.
It's not an easy read, that article.
